Loved it. Looking forward to more. Also looking forward to sleep, which is why I didn't go into much detail about the show.

A bit too Blaine-ish and contrived for my taste, but the endeavor is positive, which is good for all of us. On the other hand, I do think it's fantastic that Criss is creative with existing effects and tweaking them to his performing style.

Yeah, I also thought it was too much like Blaine. Watch. Watch. Look. Relax.

Ugh!

What I liked about it is that the magic wasn't what carried the whole hour/half-hour (however long the episodes technically are). They tried doing that with Mondo Magic, and it was a spectacular failure. Mindfreak is more like a reality show about a magician, that just happens to contain some magic.

In the first episode, we got to see him interact with his family, rehearse for his stunt, and also do a couple tricks. The second episode had a lot of talking about levitations by Criss and other magicians, interspersed with actual performance footage. To me, that was a hell of a lot more interesting and entertaining than trying to cram as much magic in there as possible.

As I said, I'm really looking forward to new episodes. Some of the clips that were shown last night look incredibly interesting.
